Canon 6D Mark II Autofocus With Teleconverter
(Bangalore, Karnataka, India)
Sigma 60-600mm For Canon
I have a sigma 60-600mm sports lens with the sigma TC-1401 teleconverter mounted on a Canon 6D Mark ii. I am unable to change or even see the AF points on my camera. By default only the center focus point is there and none of the other focus 44 AF points show up. Is there any way that I can (fix) that?
Thanks for your question about autofocus with your Canon 6D Mark II, a 1.4X teleconverter, and your Sigma 60-600 lens.
The quick answer is no. You lose all autofocus with your 60D Mark II for all focus points accept the center point. I called Canon USA before I purchased a new telephoto lens and was told it "should be fine."
I now have a Canon Pro "L" lens, the Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS II USM and I lose autofocus with the 1.4x teleconverter also. The center focus point only shows up when I am in Live View mode.
Canon Teleconverter Autofocus
Only f/4.0 lenses and faster, like a Canon 300mm f/4.0 or a Canon 70-200 f/2.8
will maintain focus points. I've heard that the newer Canon DSLRs will maintain autofocus at the smaller apertures, but I don't have any proof of that.
I tried the teleconverter with both my 70D and 5D Mark II-they're both "old" in this technology driven field-and both don't give me the autofocus I want with the Canon 1.4x teleconverter II.
Sorry for your troubles, Arun, but that is the limiting feature we face with this lens combination.
