This post will help you get the most out of your R6 Mark II, whether you already have one, like me, or you're about to invest the money to make yourself a proud owner.  I've been using my R6 M2 since August of 2023, but doing the research for this Essential FAQ Guide has already helped me with my understanding of this sophisticated mirrorless gem from Canon.

When was the Canon R6 Mark II released?

The R6 M2 came out in November of 2022, so it has advanced features, updated technology, and excellent performance.

What mount does the Canon R6 Mark II have?

The EOS R6 Mark II uses the advanced RF mount, but it can accommodate EF lenses with an adapter.

How well does the autofocus on the R6 M2 work in low light?

The Canon R6 Mark II performs extremely well in dimly lit scenes, especially with a fast lens,  because of its advanced focusing system. Canon claims that it can autofocus at levels as low as -6.5 EV.

How do you continuous focus on R6 Mark II?

You can "Enable" continuous focusing in the R6 Mark II's focusing menu or hold down the shutter button half way.

Is the Canon R6 Mark II waterproof?

The Canon R6 Mark II has solid weather resistant seals to protect against moisture and dirt, but you can't submerge it into water.

Does the R6 Mark II overheat?

According to Canon the R6 Mark II can record 4K 60p video for at least 40 minutes without overheating.

How long will a Canon R6 Mark 2 last?

Canon EOS R6 Mark II shutter has a rated lifespan of 300,000 actuations and with normal wear and tear, it will last many years.

is the Canon EOS R6 Mark II a professional camera?

Although there are several models of Canon cameras that cost several times as much, the R6 Mark II is a workhorse camera that gives you the image quality, performance, and reliability needed for shooting professional portraits, wildlife, sports, landscape photos, and more.

Is the Canon R6 Mark II a full frame or crop camera?

The EOS R6 Mark II is a full frame camera with a 24 megapixel sensor.

Does the Canon R6 Mark II have IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilization) ?

The Canon EOS R6 Mark II has In-Body Image Stabilizer (IBIS). IBIS can compensate for up to 8 stops of shutter speed if used with lenses that have built-in optical image stabilization (IS). It can also stabilize lenses that don't have optical IS, but with less stabilization than you get with an IS lens.
