Camera Recommendation for Beginner Photographer

Canon DSLR For Beginner

Canon DSLR For Beginner

Hey! I'm looking to get a good beginner camera as a gift for my friend who's interested in getting more into photography. She has a lot of experience with point and shoots, but she wants to level up a bit and take better photos to eventually edit as well. I want to get it in time for a trip we're going on where she may be taking some candid portraits, landscapes, and some wildlife pictures. She may also like an option that's a little lighter in weight and not as bulky, albeit as much so as a DSLR or mirrorless can get.

Considering it's a budget camera for her to learn on, I'm really not trying to spend more than $200, ideally around $150. I'm looking all over the used markets included marketplace, Ebay, adorama, and mpb. I found some options like the Rebel T6, SL1, or non-canon options such as the Nikon D3100. I even looked into budget mirrorless options such as the Sony A3000.

My question to you is, what camera features should I be prioritizing over others? Do you have any Canon or even non-Canon recommendations? What lenses should I look into and are there any options where the lens won't put me over budget?

Thank you for any help, it's all a little overwhelming to me.
Kristian

Sorry I can't give you a recommendation for a decent camera for a beginner in such a low price range. You're doing the right think by looking on ebay, Adorama, and mpb. Also, look at KEH. There are ads for their website on my CanonCameraGeek website. In your desired price range, it will be hard for you to get a lens or two that fit your budget.
