My Canon Rebel will no longer take pictures when set on Auto. It's ok when taking manually?

Hi Bob,
thanks for your comment to Canon Camera Geek. I can't comment too much on your camera as I don't know which Rebel you have.
It's always disappointing when a digital camera stops working. It brings up the issue of whether to repair the old camera or start shopping for a new one.
If you go with a new camera, it is often useful to get a similar camera body that will take the same Canon lenses and accessories.

Good Luck!
