How syncronize a canon 270ex ii and t4i

This is 270ex ii as a twin flash with photomed arm

A few days ago I buy a 270EX ii flash, to try to make light effects due to wireless flash capability .

I have a camera t4i/650d , I try every possible way to fire the flash wirelessly , and set and checked the manual several times and nothing is .

Sometimes it work wirelessly and most of the time no. The times that works for me with the camera in hand , I raise the built-in flash and I cover the light so I do not interfere in the picture , and flash this to no more than 30cm from the camera .

I do not understand and have not been able to find any tutorial on the internet is needed if the 270EX ii flash light of the camera to fire wirelessly ? has a light sensor that detects light fires when the main flash?

I ask that because I have a colleague and friend who does macro photograph with 2 of these flash mounted on articulated arms as a twin flash and it works perfect.

I do not understand what I'm doing wrong, if you could help me with that?

thanks

Thanks for your question about the Speedlite 270EX II. Sorry for your issues.
It drives me crazy when intermittent problems arise because they are hard to diagnose.

It is very difficult for me to answer because I am not there with you in Chile to see exactly what you are doing.

I prefer remote systems that work with radio waves instead of light waves from visible and infrared (IR) systems. Canon is moving in the right direction to switch over to radio waves for wireless, as they have done so in the Speedlite 600ER-XT.

The problem with remote triggers that use light waves to trigger flashes is that the light has to directly go from transmitter to receiver without any objects in between.

It is also possible that your 270Ex II is simply defective. Have you tried the exactly same set-up with another flash?
I would suggest that you try another flash with the EXACT SAME position for everything and see what results you get.

Personally I only use my 270ex II on the hot shoe and bounce it or Ill use it with a Canon Off-Camera Shoe Cord

Have you followed the directions in the manual carefully? The directions are on page 17 of the manual: Canon 270EX II Manual.

Your colleague may be getting good results because of the light reflecting back from the up close subject with macro photography

Hope this helps.
Good Luck

Canon t4i Shutter Stuck and LCD Reversed

Canon t4i Articulating LCD Screen

Canon t4i Articulating LCD Screen

"I have a EOS T4i. I have a couple questions. My viewing screen is stuck upside down when the screen is against the body of the camera but turns back to right side up when flipped away from the camera body. Do you know how to fix this?

Also, my camera’s shutter gets stuck when trying to take a photo and does not show the image captured in the picture play back option. And I’m not sure if it’s related but neither one of my lenses will focus on the image I’m trying to take a photo of in response to the shutter being delayed or stuck. How can I fix this?"

Thanks for your question about a stuck shutter and an upside down LCD screen display on your Canon Rebel t4i. It could be you have a problem with the mirror or it could be an electrical short within the t4i body. If you want to have your Rebel t4i repaired you need to send it to an authorized Canon service center.

Canon t4i Replacement

Unfortunately, it would be cheaper and make more sense to buy a "new" used or refurbished t4i rather than have your broken camera fixed. Repairing your t4i would be more costly than buying another.

The Canon t4i was released over 10 years ago, in 2012. That's ancient in terms of technology. The other choice is to upgrade to a new Canon camera body. The Canon 90D is simple an amazing camera and the lenses you currently use on your t4i will work perfectly on a 90D. They both have the same APS-C sized sensor.

Here's the complete look at whether the t4i is still any good.

Good Luck,
Bruce
