Canon Rebel t7 Vs t8i Battery Comparison

Canon Rebel t7 Vs t8i Battery Comparison

Can I use the same card and batteries from my Rebel t7 to my Rebel t8i.

Hi Canon Rebel Shooter!

You want to know if your battery and memory card from your Canon t7 are compatible with your Canon t8i. It's a good question to ask because over the years Canon has changed both memory card format and battery designs as its line of cameras have evolved.

Here's the link to the Canon Battery Compatibility Table.

I feel fortunate that lately Canon has done a better job and keeping some consistency it's newer pro and prosumer cameras. I can use any version of the LP-E6 battery in my 5d Mark III, 90D, EOS R, R7, and R6 Mark II.

Rebel t7 and t8i Battery

The Canon Rebel t7 takes an LP-E10 battery. The Canon Rebel takes an LP-E17 battery. The LP-E10 is 7.4 volts with a capacity of 860 mAh and the LP-E17 is 7.2 volts with a capacity of 1040 mAh. They are different batteries.

Rebel t7 and t8i Memory Card

Both the Canon Rebel t7 and t8i cameras take the postage-sized SD cards. You can use an older memory card from your t7 in your 78i camera. There are SDXC, SDHC, and SD cards, which are all compatible but have different capacities and reading/writing speeds. Faster cards with higher capacities are better for high megapixel cameras and for shooting video.

Good luck,
Bruce
