Installing EF-S 55-250mm Lens on Canon T7

Canon T7 and EF-S 18-55mm Lens

Do I need a lens adaptor to install a Canon EF-S 55-250mm lens on my Canon T7?

Hi Kevin!

Thanks for asking about compatibility of an EF-S lens on the Canon APS-C "crop" sensor, Rebel t7 camera. The T7 has a smaller sensor and will accept all EF and EF-S lenses, including the EF-S 55-250mm without an adapter. See my posts on the website about adapters for Canon R mirrorless cameras as well as the compatibility lens/camera post link below.

Larger, full frame Canon DSLR cameras can only accept the larger EF lenses that are built with a larger image circle to project light to cover the entire sensor.

Here are two articles that you'll find very helpful.

The Canon t7, as well as all the other "t" series, the Canon "SL", and 7D cameras all will accept the 55-250mm lens. That's a great, affordable lens for shooting sports and wildlife.

Mounted on the t7 camera body, the 55-250mm lens gives you an equivalent view as an 88-400mm lens would on a full frame camera.
