How To Make The RF
16mm F/2.8 Lens Perform Sharper Images?

Canon RF 16mm Lens

I am using Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM lens on EOS RP body. Video looks fine but the corner sharpness when it comes to photos are not so great. I am aware of the price range of this lens but is there something I could do to make my images a little sharper. A firmware update would be great but I'm not putting much hope on that.

Hi Vladmir,

Thank you for asking about the Canon RF 16mm lens sharpness. The RF 16mm lens is one of the most affordable Canon mirrorless prime lenses you can find.

I wonder if you can send me a sample image, along with the camera and lens settings and the situation you shot the image in.

What Effects Lens Sharpness

The aperture of the lens you use, the shutter speed of the camera, your focusing and camera technique, and the subject you are photographing all affect the sharpness of the final image.

Additionally, your camera has custom settings that may affect the amount of sharpening that is applied to the RAW file when it is converted to the jpg format.

Please comment back along with a sample image taken with your Canon RF 16mm lens and I will try to help you.

Thank you,
Bruce
