Cannot See Through Viewfinder on Canon 90D
Live View/Movie Mode Switch
Brand new canon 90d
Battery and card in place
Can see through view finder with camera off
Turn it on and there is a click and it goes black
And the shutter doesn't work
Is there something I need to do so that I can start taking pictures?
Thanks for asking about your Canon EOS 90D. It's a great camera-I love mine. Sorry for your issue with the 90D and not being able to see through the viewfinder.
You are quite possible on video mode. The knob to switch between live view/movie mode and still photos is just to the right of the viewfinder. See the photo above.

The click you hear is most likely the mirror flipping up out of the way to shoot video. The 90D's articulating LCD screen then becomes the only available way to see what your recording.
If you turn your LCD screen around can you now see your subject?
PLEASE let me know if that is the issue.
